Team Capabilities

PICT utilise prehospital ultrasound to identify injuries, gain intravenous access and perform nerve blocks.

Prehospital amputation is rare. the PICT Team have the training an equipment to provide this intervention.

PICT provide procedural sedation to facilitate extrication and various procedures.

The team can provide an emergency surgical airway by cutting into the front of the neck.

Thoracostomy is the procedure of cutting into a patients chest to re-inflate a collapsed lung. Sometimes a drainage tube can be placed.

Nerve blocks allow us to provide effective pain relief by numbing a whole area of a body part.

The team carry a chest compression device to assist during CPR.

The team carry a wide range of injectable and oral drugs, beyond the standard paramedic pharmacopeia.
