Ultrasound
PICT utilise prehospital ultrasound to identify injuries, gain intravenous access and perform nerve blocks.
Amputation
Prehospital amputation is rare. the PICT Team have the training an equipment to provide this intervention.
Sedation
PICT provide procedural sedation to facilitate extrication and various procedures.
Surgical Airway
The team can provide an emergency surgical airway by cutting into the front of the neck.
Chest Drain
Thoracostomy is the procedure of cutting into a patients chest to re-inflate a collapsed lung. Sometimes a drainage tube can be placed.
Nerve Block
Nerve blocks allow us to provide effective pain relief by numbing a whole area of a body part.
Mechanical CPR
The team carry a chest compression device to assist during CPR.
Medications
The team carry a wide range of injectable and oral drugs, beyond the standard paramedic pharmacopeia.
The team provide a wide range skills and interventions including offering remote telemedicine advice to ambulance crews, wound closure, end of life care expertise and senior decision making support for complex or critically unwell patients.
